Acura MDX Trailer Hitch Buyer’s Guide (Canada)

Shopping a trailer hitch for an Acura MDX in Canada? This guide sticks to the year landers we publish today, explains the Class 3 receiver we stock for current MDX generations, and is honest about earlier years and missing landers where our catalog is thin.

Built for Canadian MDX owners. Free shipping on CURT towing gear from Lots of Parts. New to hitches? Start with the buying guide, Class 3 versus Class 4, and wiring guide. Or open the towing guides hub.

Watch these CURT videos first

All four videos are from the official CURT YouTube channel (@curtmfg). A dedicated MDX install for CURT 13472 is not on the channel today, so these picks cover hitch selection, install techniques, fascia trimming, and ball-mount choice that MDX owners use alongside the shared Pilot application.

MDX years and hitch shopping

Current MDX hitch shopping centers on one Class 3 receiver in our store. CURT 13472 covers 2022 through 2026 MDX with a two-inch receiver and shares listed Honda Pilot years on the same card. We publish hitch landers for 2022, 2023, and 2025 today. A 2024 lander and a 2026 lander are not live yet, and earlier MDX generations do not have a dedicated hitch SKU in our active catalog right now.

Years What we usually stock
2022–2026 Class 3: CURT 13472 with a two-inch receiver (up to 6,000 lb GTW and 900 lb tongue on the card, with weight-distribution notes). Shared Pilot listings appear for 2023–2026. Hands-free liftgate models may need Acura’s factory sensor relocation kit — that note is on the CURT application, so read it before you buy. Live landers today: 2022, 2023, and 2025.
2014–2020 wiring Wiring only in our active CURT list: CURT 56192 four-flat for 2014–2020 MDX. We do not currently stock a dedicated MDX hitch SKU for those years.
Earlier MDX years No dedicated MDX hitch SKU in our active catalog today, and year landers are not published for those generations. Use Shop by Vehicle or contact support rather than guessing a later-generation part number.

Never exceed Acura’s tow rating for your trim, drivetrain, and tow package. Treat the hitch as a ceiling, not a target.

  • Ask support if your year is outside this range
Catalog honesty

Missing landers and older SKUs

We are not publishing 2024 or 2026 MDX hitch landers yet, and we are not listing a dedicated hitch for pre-2022 MDX in the active catalog.

  • Do not invent a part number from Pilot alone
  • Open Shop by Vehicle when a lander is missing
  • Contact support if fitment is unclear
Honest limits

Vehicle rating wins

MDX tow ratings vary by package. Size the trailer to Acura’s published limit first, then pick the Class 3 receiver that matches your year.

  • Hitch class is not a tow package
  • Tongue weight matters as much as GTW
  • Shared Pilot years only when they match the card

Simple setup steps

Step 1Open your year

Use the live 2022, 2023, or 2025 landers above when they match your MDX.

Step 2Match CURT 13472

Confirm 2022-and-newer MDX on the product card, including any hands-free liftgate notes.

Step 3Respect Acura’s limit

Read the door sticker and owner’s manual before you size a trailer or cargo carrier.

Step 4Add lights and a ball mount

Use the wiring guide and the ball mount guide.

Canada checklist

  • Believe Acura’s tow rating for your trim and package — it beats any hitch brochure.
  • Hands-free liftgate notes matter on CURT 13472 — confirm before you order.
  • Earlier years are thin in our active hitch catalog — do not force a later SKU onto an older MDX.
  • Plan for salt season — rinse the open-back receiver and protect the wiring plug when you can.
