Buick Encore GX Trailer Hitch Buyer’s Guide (Canada)

Shopping a trailer hitch for a Buick Encore GX in Canada? First make sure you are not holding paperwork for the older Encore. The original Encore (roughly 2013 through 2022) already has a live CURT Class 1 hitch and year pages on this store — that path is not the GX. The Encore GX shares CURT’s published hitch cards with the modern Chevy Trailblazer, including a hands-free liftgate exclusion. Those GX hitch SKUs are not active Shopify products here today. This guide keeps Encore and Encore GX in separate lanes.

Built for Canadian Encore GX owners. Free shipping on CURT towing gear from Lots of Parts when the SKU is live on this store. New to hitch shopping? Start with the buying guide, how to choose a hitch, and what hitch class do I need. Prefer the full index? Open the towing guides hub.

Encore versus Encore GX — do not mix them

The original Buick Encore (listed 2013 through 2022 on CURT’s shared card with Chevy Trax) uses CURT 11527, a Class 1 hitch with a 1.25 inch receiver. That hitch is active on Lots of Parts, and we have live Encore year landers for those years. If your badge simply says Encore without GX, that is your path — see the product card and year list below.

The Encore GX is a different platform. CURT publishes CURT 13584 as a Class 3 hitch with a 2 inch receiver for listed 2020 through 2026 Encore GX years (excluding hands-free liftgate), shared with the modern Chevy Trailblazer. Hitch-side numbers on that family sit around 2,000 lb trailer and 200 lb tongue. CURT also publishes CURT 11612 as a Class 1 option with a 1.25 inch receiver for the same GX and Trailblazer family. Neither 13584 nor 11612 is an active Shopify product on this store in this pass.

CURT’s GX and Trailblazer notes call out the hands-free liftgate exclusion and, on the Class 3 card, a vertical hanging bicycle-rack warning. Tray-style racks still need the hitch sheet and your rack maker’s rules. Bike-only shoppers should skim the hitch for bike rack only guide. The Trailblazer hitch guide covers the shared catalogue gap in more detail.

Honest gaps and badge notes

Catalogue

GX hitch not stocked

CURT publishes 13584 and 11612 for listed Encore GX years. Neither is an active listing here today. Do not force 11527 onto a GX hoping it bolts up.

Liftgate

Hands-free exclusion

CURT’s GX cards exclude hands-free liftgate setups. Check your liftgate options before you order from any retailer.

Lander

No GX year pages

We have original Encore landers. We do not have Encore GX landers. The Trailblazer guide covers the shared gap.

Ratings

Vehicle limit wins

Compact crossover tow numbers stay modest. Buick’s published tow and tongue numbers for your trim still win.
