Ford Focus Trailer Hitch Buyer’s Guide (Canada)

Shopping a trailer hitch for a Ford Focus in Canada? Start with early versus later generation, then sedan versus hatch, then whether an ST or RS badge sits on the hatch before you open a CURT Class 1 card. We stock CURT 11319 for listed 2008 through 2011 Focus years, CURT 11158 for listed 2012 through 2018 sedan and hatch years excluding RS and ST, and CURT 11431 for listed 2013 through 2018 Focus ST hatchback years. Trailer wiring covers hatch and sedan windows with CURT 56140 and 56138. We will not invent a Focus RS hitch SKU on this page.

Built for Canadian Ford Focus owners and shops. Free shipping on CURT towing gear from Lots of Parts when the SKU is live on this store. New to hitch shopping? Start with the buying guide, how to choose a hitch, and what hitch class do I need. Prefer the full index? Open the towing guides hub.

Which CURT hitch fits your Ford Focus

Later non-ST Focus shopping usually opens CURT 11158 first. That card covers listed 2012 through 2018 sedan and hatchback years and excludes RS and ST on the live title. Focus ST hatchback owners in the 2013 through 2018 window open CURT 11431 instead. Early 2008 through 2011 Focus years open CURT 11319. All three hitch cards use a one and one quarter inch receiver tube with two thousand pounds gross trailer weight and two hundred pounds of tongue weight on the hitch card.

Topic What we tell shoppers
Class 1 reality These are light-duty Class 1 hitches. Plenty of Focus owners want a bike rack or a small utility trailer. Do not invent a Class 3 truck hitch for this car.
RS and ST exclusion 11158 excludes RS and ST. If the hatch says ST, open 11431. If it says RS, we are not inventing an RS hitch SKU here.
ST path 11431 is the ST hatchback card for listed 2013 through 2018 years. Do not stretch it onto a non-ST hatch just because the year overlaps.
Early generation 11319 covers listed 2008 through 2011 years. Later Focus shoppers should not force an early card onto a 2012-and-up car.
Sedan versus hatch wiring 56138 is the sedan harness window. 56140 is a shorter hatchback wiring window. Wrong body style on wiring is a common Focus misfire.
Receiver size One and one quarter inch tube on all three hitch cards. Match pins, locks, covers, and rack shanks to that size.
Concealed body 11158 and 11319 describe a concealed main body. Still plan for fascia and torque steps from the CURT instruction sheet.
Door sticker Hitch class is not the Ford tow limit. Read the door sticker before you load tongue weight.
Fusion path Ford Fusion stays on its own buyer guide. Do not stretch Focus cards onto a Fusion.
Later years We are not inventing an in-stock Focus hitch for years outside the three hitch cards above.

Year pages we publish for the Ford Focus

Year jumps we publish that overlap the live Focus hitch cards. Open the lander that matches the model year and body style on your door sticker.

These are the Ford Focus hitch year pages we publish today. Confirm the product-card years, ST versus non-ST notes, and sedan versus hatch wiring before you buy. We do not invent years that are not on this list.

Bike rack and light trailer reality

Most Focus hitch shoppers in Canada want a rack for bikes or a small utility trailer. That is a Class 1 conversation. If you only need a rack, read hitch for bike rack only and still respect the door sticker. For receiver size habits, see hitch receiver size guide.

Step 1Confirm generation and badge

Early versus later, sedan versus hatch, ST versus non-ST. RS stays an honest gap here.

Step 2Open the hitch card

Match 11319, 11158, or 11431 to the live year window and exclusions.

Step 3Add wiring if needed

Choose 56138 or 56140 only when the harness body style matches.

Step 4Plan the install

Use CURT install videos and the weekend checklist.
