Tray style versus hanging style
Tray racks support wheels on platforms and clamp the tires or frame per the design. They are gentler on carbon frames and odd frame shapes than many hanging racks. They also stick out farther and add tongue weight, so read the rack rating and the hitch accessory rating before you stack e-bikes.
Confirm a two-inch or one-and-one-quarter-inch shank to match your receiver. Reducers can lower capacity. If the rack tilts for hatch access, practice the tilt with the bikes off first.
Canada road habits
Pin the rack with a rated hitch pin or lock, then add the rack security pin if it has one. Anti-rattle hardware cuts clunk on broken pavement. In winter, rinse road salt off the rack and receiver tube so the tilt pivots still move in spring.
