Honda HR-V Trailer Hitch Buyer’s Guide (Canada)

Shopping a trailer hitch for a Honda HR-V in Canada? For 2016 through 2022 we stock CURT 11416, a Class 1 hitch with a 1.25 inch receiver, and every year lander in that range is live. Newer 2023-and-up HR-Vs are the honest gap — CURT publishes later cards we do not list yet, and we have no Honda HR-V wiring harness on the shelf. This guide sticks to what returns on Lots of Parts.

All four videos are from the official CURT YouTube channel (@curtmfg). CURT does not currently publish a dedicated 11416 HR-V install on that channel, so we use selection, technique, wiring, and ball-mount primers. Finish with the install sheet that ships with CURT 11416 for your year.

What we stock for 2016 through 2022

CURT 11416 is the Class 1 hitch we list for 2016 through 2022 Honda HR-V. The card rates about 2,000 lb trailer and 200 lb tongue with a 1.25 inch receiver. Honda’s own tow and tongue numbers for your trim still win — the hitch does not raise the crossover’s factory limit.

Year pages that are live

These landers exist today. We only link years that return on the store — no invented 2023-and-up HR-V URLs.

Newer HR-V years and wiring — honest gaps

Item Status on this store
CURT 11416 Class 1 Live for 2016 through 2022 HR-V on the application list.
CURT 11640 Class 1 (newer years) CURT publishes this Class 1 card for listed 2023 through 2026 HR-V years. Not listed as an active Shopify product here — no product link.
CURT 13645 Class 3 substitute path CURT’s catalogue also shows a Class 3, 2 inch card aimed at select HR-V and Acura ADX applications as a substitute path for some shoppers. It is not listed here either. Confirm fitment on CURT’s tool before you assume anything.
HR-V wiring harness No Honda HR-V-specific CURT four-flat harness is active on this shelf in this pass.
Year landers 2023 and newer Not live. We are not inventing hitch-2023-honda-hr-v style URLs.

If you drive a 2023 or newer HR-V, treat this page as shopping context — not a fake “buy the hitch” button for a SKU we do not stock. Read the wiring harness guide and the four-pin versus seven-pin guide for connector basics while you wait on a restock signal.

What a Class 1 path usually means on an HR-V

Step 1Stay inside Honda’s numbers

Hitch-card pounds never override the owner’s manual for your trim.

Step 2Expect a 1.25 inch opening

Many multi-bike and cargo racks want 2 inch shanks — read the accessory packaging.

Step 3Plan lamps separately

We do not stock an HR-V harness today. Four-flat only covers lamps, not electric trailer brakes.

Step 4Use the year lander

If you own 2016 through 2022, open your year page before you order.

Class 1 with a 1.25 inch tube is the everyday path for light bike racks, small carriers, and very light trailers within Honda’s published numbers. It is not a free upgrade past the vehicle limit. If your trailer needs electric brakes, you still need the brake-controller conversation — see do I need a brake controller.
