Hyundai Elantra Trailer Hitch Buyer’s Guide (Canada)

Shopping a trailer hitch for a Hyundai Elantra in Canada? Start with sedan versus GT versus Touring on the door sticker, then open the matching CURT Class 1 card. We stock CURT 11471 for listed 2009 through 2012 Elantra Touring years, CURT 11400 for listed 2013 through 2017 Elantra GT years, and CURT 11424 for listed 2017 through 2018 Elantra sedan years with a factory recovery loop. Trailer wiring covers several windows with CURT 56049, 56126, and 56233. Later sedan hitch years and some mid-cycle sedan windows are thinner on this shelf, and we will not invent a SKU to fill them.

Built for Canadian Hyundai Elantra owners and shops. Free shipping on CURT towing gear from Lots of Parts when the SKU is live on this store. New to hitch shopping? How to Select a Trailer Hitch

CURT · Hitch class basics

Which CURT hitch fits your Hyundai Elantra

Read the body style first. The Touring wagon years are not the same card as the GT hatch, and the later sedan with a recovery loop is not a free pass for every 2017 Elantra. All three hitch cards use a one and one quarter inch receiver tube and a two thousand pound gross trailer weight rating with two hundred pounds of tongue weight on the hitch card. That is still light-duty. Match the accessory shank to that tube size.

Parts-counter notes before you click buy

Topic What we tell shoppers
Class 1 reality These are light-duty Class 1 hitches. Plenty of Elantra owners want a bike rack or a small utility trailer. Do not invent a Class 3 truck hitch for this car.
Touring versus sedan 11471 is written for Elantra Touring. Do not stretch it onto a sedan just because the year overlaps.
GT versus sedan 11400 is the GT hatch card for listed 2013 through 2017 years. Mid-cycle Elantra sedans without a matching hitch card stay honest gaps.
Recovery loop 11424 asks for a factory recovery loop on the listed 2017 through 2018 sedan. Check under the rear before you order.
Limited exclusions 56126 and 56233 exclude Limited where the harness card says so. Read the live wiring title.
Wiring ahead of hitch 56233 lists some 2019 through 2020 sedan wiring years. That does not invent a matching hitch SKU for those years on this page.
Receiver size One and one quarter inch tube. Match pins, locks, covers, and rack shanks to that size.
Door sticker Hitch class is not the Hyundai tow limit. Read the door sticker before you load tongue weight.
Tucson and Kona Crossover Hyundai guides stay separate. Do not stretch Elantra cards onto a Tucson or Kona.
Later years We are not inventing an in-stock Elantra hitch for years outside the three hitch cards above.

Year pages we publish for the Hyundai Elantra

These are the Hyundai Elantra and Elantra GT hitch year pages we publish today. Confirm the product-card years, Touring versus GT versus sedan notes, and exclusions before you buy. We do not invent years that are not on this list.

Sedan shelf

CURT 11424

Wiring shelf

56049, 56126, 56233

Three live four-flat windows. Pair wiring only when the hitch year and exclusions also match.

Bike rack and light trailer reality

Most Elantra hitch shoppers in Canada want a rack for bikes or a small utility trailer for the cottage run. That is a Class 1 conversation. If you only need a rack, read hitch for bike rack only and still respect the door sticker. For receiver size habits, see hitch receiver size guide.

Step 1Confirm body style

Touring, GT, or sedan with recovery loop. Wrong body style is the fastest Elantra misfire.

Step 2Open the hitch card

Match 11471, 11400, or 11424 to the live year window, then read exclusions.

Step 3Add wiring if needed

Choose 56049, 56126, or 56233 only when the harness list matches.

Step 4Plan the install

Use the weekend checklist before you block a driveway day.
