How to Select a Trailer Hitch
Why a compact luxury crossover often lands on Class 3 hardware even when Lexus publishes a modest tow number.
Watch on YouTube →Shopping a trailer hitch for a Lexus NX in Canada? Match the year and the hybrid badge first. On this store we list CURT Class 3 and Class 2 receivers that cover first-generation NX gas and NX Hybrid applications through 2021, plus a custom four-flat for listed early years. Newer second-generation NX years need an honest pause — we are not inventing a cart link we do not stock.
All four videos are from the official CURT YouTube channel (@curtmfg). Use them for class selection, install habits, wiring basics, and ball-mount height before you dig into the NX cards below.
If an embed does not load, use the YouTube link under the card.

Watch on YouTube →General install habits. Finish with the sheet for your exact NX year card — Hybrid and gas share some listings, but year ranges still matter.
Watch on YouTube →Useful before you order CURT 56268, or while you wait if your later gas NX year is outside the harness window.
Watch on YouTube →Class 3 cards use a 2 inch opening. Class 2 uses a Class 2 receiver. Match the shank, then set drop for a level trailer.
Watch on YouTube →CURT 13337 is the primary Class 3 hitch we list for first-generation NX. On the product card it covers 2015 through 2017 NX200t-era gas years, 2018 through 2021 NX300-era gas years, and 2015 through 2021 NX Hybrid years. It uses a 2 inch receiver and is weight-distribution compatible on the CURT sheet. It is active and in stock today.
If you prefer a Class 2 receiver, CURT 12143 covers 2015 and 2016 gas and Hybrid NX, and CURT 12172 covers 2017 through 2021 gas and Hybrid NX on the cards we stock. Both Class 2 options are in stock in smaller quantities — confirm availability on the product page before you count on overnight shipping.
Wiring is CURT 56268, a custom four-flat listed for 2015 through 2017 gas NX and for 2015 through 2021 NX Hybrid. Later gas-only NX years after 2017 may not sit on that harness card — read the year list instead of assuming every NX on 13337 automatically gets 56268. The harness is in stock.
Second-generation NX years from 2022 onward are not on these hitch cards. We do not list a newer NX hitch SKU on this store in this pass, so we will not invent one. Lexus tow and tongue numbers on the door sticker still beat every hitch rating on this page.

NX Hybrid years through 2021 appear on 13337 and the Class 2 options. Still believe Lexus tow numbers for the hybrid trim.
56268 covers early gas NX and Hybrid through 2021. Later gas-only years may need a different plan — ask support.
2022-and-newer NX is outside these SKUs. We will not invent a product link to fill the gap.
Most shoppers who want a 2 inch opening start with 13337. Class 2 cards suit lighter accessory use when the sticker allows.
Use the landers above when they match your NX door sticker and badge.
Read year lists on CURT 13337, 12172, or 12143 before you add anything to the cart.
CURT 56268 is excellent when your year is on the card — do not assume every NX qualifies.
Match shank size to the receiver, then level the trailer on Canadian roads.
