Mazda CX-30 Trailer Hitch Buyer’s Guide (Canada)

Shopping a trailer hitch for a Mazda CX-30 in Canada? CURT publishes a vehicle-specific Class 1 receiver for these crossovers, but that hitch is not on our Shopify shelf today and we do not publish CX-30 year landers yet. What we do stock is the four-flat wiring harness. This guide stays honest about that catalogue gap and points you to related Mazda hitch pages we actually carry.

Built for Canadian CX-30 owners. Free shipping on CURT towing gear from Lots of Parts when the SKU is live on this store. New to hitch shopping? Start with the buying guide, how to choose a hitch, and what hitch class do I need. Prefer the full index? Open the towing guides hub.

Watch these CURT videos first

All four videos are from the official CURT YouTube channel (@curtmfg). There is no dedicated CURT CX-30 hitch install on that channel today, so these primers cover selection, technique, wiring, and ball mounts. The CX-50 Class 3 film on CURT’s channel is a different vehicle — we do not pretend it fits a CX-30.

Class 1 receivers use a 1.25 inch opening, so accessory choice is tighter than a 2 inch Class 3 path.

What CURT publishes versus what we stock

On CURT’s own catalogue, CURT 11599 is the Class 1, 1.25 inch receiver written for listed 2020–2026 Mazda CX-30 years. Card ratings on that family are typically about 2,000 lb trailer and 200 lb tongue — light-duty towing and hitch-mounted bike or cargo gear within Mazda’s numbers. That hitch is not listed as an active product on Lots of Parts today.

Wiring we do stock

Four-flat is enough when your trailer only needs tail, brake, and turn lamps. If you need electric brakes, reverse lights, or charge power, you are looking at a seven-way conversation — start with the four-pin versus seven-pin guide. A wiring harness does not invent a hitch that is not on the shelf.

What a Class 1 path usually means on a CX-30

Compact crossovers land in Class 1 for a reason. The 1.25 inch opening fits light bike racks, small cargo carriers, and very light trailers — always within Mazda’s published numbers for your trim. Many popular cargo and multi-bike racks expect a 2 inch shank instead, so read the accessory packaging before you assume it drops into a Class 1 tube.

Install sheets for this family often call for lowering the exhaust and working carefully around frame holes. That is normal Class 1 crossover work, not a red flag by itself. If you are not comfortable with under-vehicle hardware, budget for a shop install once a hitch is actually on the shelf here.

Until CURT 11599 (or another verified CX-30 hitch) is an active listing on Lots of Parts, treat this page as shopping help and wiring context — not a fake “buy the hitch” button.

CURT publishes the Class 1 CX-30 hitch. We do not sell it here today. Related Mazda guides below are not a silent claim that those hitches bolt to a CX-30.

Vehicle limit wins

Even when a Class 1 hitch arrives on this shelf, Mazda’s tow and tongue numbers for your CX-30 trim still win.
