Mazda CX-50 Trailer Hitch Buyer’s Guide (Canada)

Shopping a trailer hitch for a Mazda CX-50 in Canada? CURT publishes a vehicle-specific Class 3 receiver for these crossovers, but that part is not on our Shopify shelf today and we do not publish CX-50 year landers yet. This guide stays honest about that catalogue gap, shows the official CURT install video so you know what the job looks like, and points you to related Mazda hitch pages we do stock.

Built for Canadian CX-50 owners. Free shipping on CURT towing gear from Lots of Parts when the SKU is live on this store. New to hitch shopping? Start with the buying guide, how to choose a hitch, and what hitch class do I need. Prefer the full index? Open the towing guides hub.

Watch these CURT videos first

All four videos are from the official CURT YouTube channel (@curtmfg). CURT filmed a Class 3 install for CURT 13630 on a CX-50. We still do not sell that SKU here today — the video is for education, not a product link. The selection, technique, and wiring primers cover the habits you still need before you order anywhere.

Lights still need a proper harness. We do not invent a CX-50 four-flat SKU when the hitch itself is not on our shelf yet.

What CURT publishes for the CX-50 (and what we stock)

On CURT’s own application list, CURT 13630 is the current Class 3 hitch with a 2 inch receiver for listed 2023 through 2026 Mazda CX-50 years, including hybrid trims on that current card. CURT rates that hitch card around 3,500 lb trailer and 525 lb tongue. Mazda’s own tow and tongue numbers for your VIN still win — the hitch does not raise the crossover’s factory limit.

Older marketing sometimes mentioned CURT 13510 for early non-hybrid CX-50 fitment. That number is discontinued in favour of 13630 on CURT’s site. None of that changes the store fact below.

Item Status on Lots of Parts
CURT 13630 Class 3 Published by CURT for listed CX-50 years. Not listed as an active Shopify product on this store today — we will not invent a product URL.
CX-50 year landers No hitch-2023 (or later) Mazda CX-50 pages are live here yet. Existing YMM links only — so there is nothing to link under that pattern.
Wiring for CX-50 No CX-50-specific CURT four-flat harness on our shelf in this research pass. Read the wiring harness guide and the four-pin versus seven-pin guide for connector basics.

How a CX-50 owner should shop anyway

Step 1Confirm the VIN job

Owner’s manual tow package notes beat hitch marketing. If the CX-50 is not rated to tow, treat the receiver as accessory hardware only.

Step 2Expect Class 3 hardware

CURT’s published path is a 2 inch Class 3. That opening size helps with common ball mounts and many bike racks — still stay under tongue-weight ratings.

Step 3Watch for exclusions

CURT’s 13630 notes call out vertical-hanging bike racks. Hybrid owners should confirm the current application covers their trim before they buy elsewhere.

Step 4Plan lights early

A receiver alone does not light the trailer. Four-flat covers basic lights; electric brakes and reverse usually need seven-way thinking — see the wiring guides linked below.

Related Mazda hitch shopping we do stock

If you also shop a CX-5 or CX-9, we publish real year pages and live CURT receivers for those crossovers. They are not CX-50 substitutes — different frames, different part numbers — but they are useful family context while the CX-50 SKU is missing here.

Honest gaps

Catalogue

No CX-50 hitch SKU

CURT 13630 is not an active product URL on Lots of Parts today. We would rather say that than invent a button.

Landers

No year pages yet

There are no hitch-20xx-mazda-cx-50 landers to link. Existing YMM links only.

Wiring

Thin CX-50 shelf

No CX-50-specific harness called out in this store pass. Use the general wiring guides.

Ratings

Vehicle limit wins

Hitch-card pounds do not override Mazda’s published tow and tongue numbers for your trim.
