4Runner generations and hitch shopping

Toyota refreshed the 4Runner frame and bumper package across generations. Our published year landers cover 2000 through 2009. We do not publish 2010-and-newer 4Runner hitch landers yet, so this guide stays honest about the catalog you can click today while still pointing at the Class 3 receivers we stock for those older trucks.

Years What we usually stock
2003–2009 Class 3: CURT 13445 (also lists Lexus GX470). Expect tow-hook removal and exhaust clearance work on many installs. Brake-control harness example: CURT 51363 for listed Toyota and Lexus years including 4Runner.
2000–2002 (and 1996–2002) Class 3: CURT 13087. Wiring example: CURT 55341 for listed years. Our landers start at 2000.
Earlier classics Older kits such as CURT 13094 (1992–1995) and CURT 13024 (1987–1991) are in the store, but we do not publish matching year landers for those decades.
2010-and-newer Later fifth-gen and newer trucks. Dedicated hitch year pages are not published yet. Use the trailer hitches collection and contact us if you need help matching a late 4Runner. CURT 51363 may still list brake-harness years on its card.

Never exceed the vehicle maker’s tow rating for your trim, drivetrain, and tow package. A hitch rating is not a blank cheque to tow heavier than the SUV was designed for.
