Equinox years and hitch shopping

Equinox hitch shopping splits cleanly by generation. Earlier crossovers (about 2005–2017) share CURT 13591 as Class 3 and CURT 12291 as Class 2. Newer gas Equinox models (about 2018 onward) move to CURT 13439 as Class 3 and CURT 12201 as Class 2. Both newer receivers call out gas models only on the product cards — Equinox EV needs a different conversation.

2018–2026 gas Class 3: CURT 13439 (up to 4,500 lb GTW and 675 lb tongue on the card). Class 2: CURT 12201 with a 1.25 inch receiver. Both list gas Equinox and Terrain applications — not EV.
2005–2017 Class 3: CURT 13591 (up to 3,500 lb GTW and 350 lb tongue on the card). Class 2: CURT 12291 for lighter racks and smaller trailers.
Wiring Newer gas years: CURT 56429 (and related CURT 56375 where listed). Earlier years: CURT 56094 for 2010–2017 Equinox and Terrain on the card.
Equinox EV CURT 13439 and CURT 12201 call out gas models only. Do not assume those SKUs fit an EV — use the trailer hitches collection or contact us for EV-specific options.

Never exceed Chevrolet’s tow rating for your trim, drivetrain, and tow package. A hitch rating is not permission to tow heavier than the crossover was designed for.

  • Plan for salt season — rinse the open-back receiver and protect the wiring plug when you can.
