Terrain years and hitch shopping

Good news for Terrain shoppers: we publish a hitch year page for every model year from 2010 through 2026. The hardware still changes at the 2018 redesign, and later Class 3 and Class 2 cards call out gas models only — diesel or other powertrains are not something we will stretch those SKUs to cover.

Years What we usually stock
2018–2026 Terrain Class 3: CURT 13439 with a 2 inch receiver for gas models only (card ratings typically about 4,500 lb trailer and 675 lb tongue). Class 2 option: CURT 12201 with a 1.25 inch receiver for lighter racks, also gas models only. Wiring: CURT 56429 and CURT 56375 — confirm your exact year on the product card before you buy.
2010–2017 Terrain Class 3: CURT 13591 with a 2 inch receiver (typically about 3,500 lb trailer and 350 lb tongue, with weight-distribution figures on the sheet). Class 2 option: CURT 12291 with a 1.25 inch receiver. Wiring: CURT 56094 for listed 2010–2017 Equinox and Terrain years.
Honest exclusions 13439 and 12201 are gas models only on the CURT cards. Do not order them for a powertrain the sheet excludes. Equinox shares many of these SKUs — that is normal platform fitment, not a free pass to skip confirming Terrain on the card.

Never exceed GMC’s tow rating for your Terrain trim and drivetrain. Crossover tow packages are often well below hitch brochure numbers.

Do not bolt a first-generation hitch to a second-generation Terrain. Open the year lander, then match 13591 versus 13439.

Powertrain

Gas-only cards

Later CURT Class 3 and Class 2 titles say gas models only. If your Terrain is not on that list, stop and confirm before you order.
