Hitch height and ride height are not the same measurement, but they argue with each other every time you change a truck or car. Lift a pickup and the receiver climbs with the frame. Lower a crossover and the coupler can sit too high for a stock ball mount. How we reconnect ride height changes to hitch height
Ride height is how high the vehicle sits. Hitch height is where the receiver tube lands after that ride height. Change springs, level kits, or lift blocks and the receiver moves with the frame. The trailer coupler did not move, so your old drop number may now be wrong. Remeasure on level ground and shop a mount with enough rise or drop. Adjustable channel mounts help when you need fine steps and your receiver tube size matches the channel shank.
