A hitch step gives a foothold into a tall truck bed using the receiver. Confirm the step rating, pin it fully, and do not use it as a tow ball mount.

Plant both feet carefully. Watch mud and ice on the tread — Canadian winters make these slick. Remove or stow the step if it blocks a sensor or bike rack you need.
Fit
Match shank size to the receiver. A reducer may lower rating. Do not exceed the step capacity with a jumping load off the bumper.
