Why it matters
Clips that fall out leave the pin free to walk. A short cable or strap tied to the pin keeps the clip in the toolbox of last resort — still on the pin.

Inspect the lanyard for fray. Do not substitute zip ties for a proper clip. Pair with a hitch lock when the insert stays parked overnight.
