Receiver side
Every insert needs a pin through the receiver holes. A spring clip keeps a plain pin from walking out. A hitch lock replaces the plain pin when you want theft resistance on racks, carriers, and ball mounts left in the tube. Match lock diameter to the receiver holes.
Trailer side
Close the coupler latch fully on the ball, then pin or lock the latch. A barbell coupler lock helps when the trailer is parked. Cross the safety chains under the coupler so they can catch a dropped tongue. None of this replaces proper tongue weight or working brakes.
