Open the latch, seat the chain link fully, close the latch. Hooks that can spit a chain are a poor highway choice. Attach to hitch chain loops or rated vehicle points.
Length
Enough slack to turn. Not enough to drag on the pavement. Recheck after the first kilometers when chains settle.
