Height and latch

Adjustable pintle mounts let you dial hook height similar to a ball-mount drop. Aim for a level trailer frame on level ground with the trailer loaded. Close the jaw fully over the lunette and secure the latch pin or lock the handle per the product design.

Wear and noise

Pintle joints can clank when worn or loosely adjusted. Inspect the hook throat and lunette for flat spots. Keep the joint greased if the maker calls for it, and re-torque mount bolts after the first rough jobsite trip.
