A sway-tab ball mount gives friction sway control a solid attach point on the mount instead of improvising on the trailer. Use it when your sway kit calls for tabs, and get tongue weight right before you tension the link.

What the tabs are for
Friction sway control needs a firm ball or tab on the mount or WD head. Sway-tab mounts include those attach points so the link pulls cleanly. If your mount has no tabs and the kit needs them, ordering a sway-tab mount is cleaner than fabricating brackets.
Confirm shank size, drop, and rating the same way you would for any ball mount. The sway kit does not raise the mount capacity.
Setup order
Level the trailer, set tongue weight, then install the sway link. A sway-tab mount will not fix a nose-high or tongue-light trailer. Recheck tab bolts after the first highway trip, and keep salt off the friction surfaces in Canadian winter storage.
