When WD earns its keep
Weight distribution matters when tongue weight is high enough to unload the front axle, when headlight aim climbs at night, or when the trailer maker calls for WD above a stated tongue weight. It is not a substitute for staying inside the truck tow rating. Measure tongue weight if you can, then size the WD head and bars to that number with margin.
Round-bar and trunnion-bar kits both distribute weight. Integrated sway control is a separate shopping decision. Start with measured tongue weight, then choose the kit family that fits your receiver and trailer frame brackets.
