Measure how far you need the head behind the bumper for jack clearance and turning. Choose rise or drop so the head sits at the height the instructions call for with the trailer level. A shank that is wrong forces extreme head angles.
Hardware
Torque shank and head bolts to spec. Recheck after the first trip. Canadian washboard roads loosen WD hardware faster than driveway towing does.
