Hitch bolts only hold at the torque the instructions call for. Too loose and the hitch can shift. Too tight and threads or weld nuts suffer. Follow the CURT torque sequence, then re-check after the first loaded trip.

Use the product chart
Different bolt diameters and grades get different torque values. The instruction sheet and install video win over memory. Clean threads, use the supplied conical washers in the correct orientation, and snug in a cross pattern before final torque.
Re-torque is part of the install
After the first hundred kilometers with a load, park on level ground and re-check hitch bolts. Canadian winters add salt and freeze-thaw movement. A quick torque check in spring is cheap insurance if the truck saw a lot of salted roads.
