Trailer wiring

The breakaway battery is what fires electric brakes after a separation. Keep it charged, mounted upright per the kit design, and replace it when it will no longer hold a load — especially after Canadian winters.

Charge and test

Plug into the kit charger or the seven-way charge circuit as designed. Pull the breakaway pin in a safe area and confirm the brakes lock. If voltage collapses under that load, replace the battery.

Cold weather

Cold cuts cranking power. A battery that worked in July can fail in January. Store the trailer on a maintainer when possible, and retest before the first winter tow.
